The problem

Hair loss is solved badly, expensively, or with side effects.

Finasteride carries side effects many men aren't willing to accept. Transplants are invasive and cost five figures. The laser helmets already on the market? Dumb devices — fixed settings, no connectivity, no way to optimise your treatment.

There's a better way.

Why Helios

What makes it different

320 Laser Diodes

More diodes than the Blueprint 302. Each emitting 5mW of coherent 650nm light for maximum follicle penetration.

Super-Pulse Technology

Pick between three delivery modes — Continuous, Super-pulse 10 Hz, and Super-pulse 1 kHz — drawn from the peer-reviewed LLLT literature. No other consumer cap exposes this choice.

App Control via Bluetooth

Full BLE 5.0 connectivity. Pick the pulse mode, set session length, track every session. Available on iOS and Android.

20-Minute Auto Sessions

Clinically validated 3–6 J/cm² dose delivered automatically. Wear it, tap start, done.

Full-Scalp Coverage

Rigid 3D-printed shell with TPU comfort liner that wraps around the temples, sides, and back of the head — not just the crown.

Always Improving

Firmware updates delivered over-the-air via the app. Your helmet gets smarter over time — new protocols, features, and refinements, automatically.

Three steps

How it works

  1. Step 1: Place the helmet on your head

Sized to fit head circumferences from 52–62 cm.

  2. Step 2: Open the Helios app and tap Start

Pick continuous or super-pulse, set your duration.

  3. Step 3: 20 minutes later, you're done

Auto-shutoff. The session is logged in the app.

Three sessions per week. Most users see results within 16–24 weeks, consistent with published 650 nm LLLT clinical data.

How Helios compares

Most consumer caps lock you into a single fixed protocol with no telemetry. Helios is the only one with full-scalp coverage, an app, and configurable pulse modes.

The science

Backed by clinical research

Helios uses low-level laser therapy (LLLT), also known as photobiomodulation. 650 nm coherent laser light penetrates the scalp to reach the dermal papilla cells within hair follicles — the cells responsible for hair-growth signalling.

At the cellular level, photons are absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase in the mitochondria, increasing adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production and stimulating cellular metabolism. This promotes the transition of hair follicles from the telogen (resting) phase to the anagen (growth) phase.

A meta-analysis of 11 double-blinded, randomised controlled trials found a statistically significant increase in hair density with LLLT treatment. The therapeutic dose is 3–6 J/cm² per session — exactly what Helios delivers in each 20-minute session.

Answers

Frequently asked questions

Does low-level laser therapy actually work for hair regrowth?

Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) at 650nm has been the subject of published research, including randomised, double-blind studies that have reported increases in hair density for some users. Helios 320 delivers light at the same 650nm wavelength studied in that research. Individual results vary, and Helios 320 is sold as a general wellness device, not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

How long until I see results?

Hair follicles cycle slowly, so any LLLT protocol requires patience. Published research on 650nm LLLT typically reports outcomes measured over 16 to 24 weeks of consistent use. Individual results vary, and Helios 320 makes no guarantees. We recommend taking standardised photos at the start and every four weeks so you can track changes objectively rather than relying on the mirror.

Is it safe? Are there any side effects?

LLLT at 5mW per diode is non-thermal and non-ionising — it does not burn, damage DNA, or heat the scalp. Some users report mild, temporary scalp tingling in the first few sessions. If you have a photosensitising condition, are taking photosensitising medication, or have any concerns, please consult your doctor before use. Helios 320 is a general wellness device and is not a substitute for medical advice or treatment.

How often do I need to use it?

Three sessions per week, twenty minutes each. That is the protocol consistently used in the peer-reviewed LLLT trials for androgenetic alopecia, and more is not better — follicles need recovery time between doses, and over-treatment can actually blunt the response. The Helios app will remind you, log your sessions, and stop you from exceeding the optimal weekly dose.

How is Helios different from other laser caps like HairMax or Blueprint?

Three things. First, 320 laser diodes with true full-scalp coverage including the temples, sides and back of the head — most competitors only cover the crown. Second, configurable super-pulse protocols and open firmware, so you can tune your treatment to the latest research rather than being locked into a single fixed mode. Third, a proper companion app with Bluetooth control, session logging and over-the-air updates. Helios is £999 — less than HairMax 272 and the premium US caps — and it is designed and assembled in the United Kingdom.

When does the Helios 320 launch and how can I pre-order?

The Helios 320 launches in Q4 2026. We are not taking paid pre-orders — instead, join the waitlist below and you will get early access to order at launch, plus founding-member pricing. Waitlist members are served in the order they joined.

What's your refund policy?

You have a 14-day cooling-off period under UK Consumer Contracts Regulations from the date you receive your Helios 320. If you change your mind, return the device in its original condition for a full refund. The device is also covered by a two-year manufacturer warranty against defects, and your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected.

Is it covered by the NHS or medical insurance?

No. Androgenetic hair loss is classified as a cosmetic condition by the NHS, so LLLT devices are not available on prescription and most UK private health insurers do not reimburse them. We can provide a VAT invoice on request.

Can women use it too?

Yes. Research on 650nm LLLT has included both men and women, and the diffuse thinning pattern common in women may benefit from full-scalp coverage. The Helios 320 is sized to fit head circumferences from roughly 52cm to 62cm, which covers the vast majority of adult men and women. Do not use during pregnancy without consulting your doctor.

How does the app work?

The Helios app connects to the helmet over Bluetooth 5.0. From your phone you can start and stop sessions, choose between continuous or pulsed protocols, adjust session duration, view a complete history of your treatments, and set weekly reminders. Firmware updates are delivered over the air, so your helmet improves over time. Available on iOS and Android at launch.

About

About Helios Cap

Helios Cap is the consumer brand of Hephaestus Ventures Ltd, a UK-based engineering company founded in 2026 and headquartered in Cambridgeshire. We design, assemble, and ship the Helios 320 Laser Helmet directly from the United Kingdom.

The company was founded by an engineer who went looking for a serious at-home LLLT device, found a market split between £3,000 clinic caps and £200 novelties, and decided to build the missing middle. Every design decision — from the 320-diode count to the rigid helmet geometry to the twenty-minute session length — is documented on our build journal.

Our mission is straightforward: make clinically inspired hair regrowth technology honest, accessible, and genuinely usable at home. No subscriptions, no gimmicks, no clinic overheads — just a well-engineered device with a transparent supply chain and a two-year warranty.

Made in the UK

Designed, assembled, and shipped from Cambridgeshire by a small team of engineers — not a marketing brand outsourcing manufacture overseas.

No subscriptions

One device, one price, one purchase. Firmware updates are free for the life of the helmet — never a paywall, never a renewal.

Two-year warranty

Every Helios 320 is backed by a two-year manufacturer warranty plus a 14-day cooling-off period under UK Consumer Contracts Regulations.
